On many steep shingle roofs in windy exposures, six-nail patterns make more sense than four, especially on west- and south-facing slopes near open water.

On a roof with several valleys, for example, the conversation may turn to whether a valley should stay open or be woven, how water is concentrating on a long run, and whether a cricket needs to be reframed to move water better behind a chimney. On a steep lake house, that kind of correction work usually matters more than the brand name stamped on the wrapper.
Installation quality lives in the details nobody sees later
Once the roof is open and the deck is ready, the replacement should become methodical.
Underlayment placement, leak barrier at vulnerable areas, starter alignment, flashing integration, ventilation details, and nail placement all matter.
